Hamaad Sajid started his journey at Indeed as a Client Success Specialist in Dublin three years ago, He recalls what it has been like being the Brand Ambassador Lead for EMEA and growing into his new role as Senior Client Success Specialist and relocating to London.

When I started my journey at Indeed nearly three years ago, I was still finishing up on my final year of exams studying Marketing at the Dublin Institute of Technology. I decided that I would take my time in finding the right career opportunity. After I finished my exams, I spoke to many friends who were already working in the professional landscape for some advice, along with researching reviews about employers on Indeed and Glassdoor to see which companies had the most satisfied employees.

Drawn to Indeed

I had a couple of offers from different companies on the table, but my preference was always Indeed. The Dublin office was located right in the heart of the city centre, I would walk past it everyday and say “WOW, I’d love to work there.”

I decided to reach out to Carl, an Account Executive at Indeed whom I knew from my university and he mentioned how great the culture is, how great the people are and how he is enjoying his role. Carl referred me on for a Client Success role and the recruiters reached out straight away and started the interview process. A huge shout out to Selene, my recruiter and managers Ross/ Martina for trusting me and offering me the position. Also, big up to Carl who recently got promoted to a Global Product Solutions role internally at Indeed. The rest is history really.

Everyday is a school day

I’m a firm believer in “everyday is a school day.” Not to sound like the motivational speakers you see on Youtube, but everyday I start work with the mindset about learning something new. In July 2020, we were a couple of months into the pandemic. A lot of people unfortunately were losing their jobs or companies were being forced to shut down. During this time, Indeed’s mission statement “We help people get jobs” became even more important for me. As I was seeing unemployment numbers going up, I wanted to help everyone get a job.

To reach my highest potential to make the biggest impact on struggling job seekers, I moved teams internally, joining the Client Success dedicated Inside Sales team for the UK and Ireland markets. The transition was very smooth and although I had to onboard this new role working from home, the management and my colleagues provided me with so much support and training that I could start my day-to-day role in a number of weeks.

In my current role, I work with our enterprise team (our fortune 1000 clients). I have daily check in calls with my clients to ensure everything is in order. I also work with my National Account Managers behind the scenes to make sure all our clients are optimizing Indeeds product suite and they are getting a good return on their investment.

Being a Brand Ambassador

I’m currently also the Regional Lead Brand Ambassador for EMEA. This role means I am the point of contact for the region who assists with the organization, communication and logistics of the program, as well as helping to come up with creative ways we can engage the wider ambassador team.

I really enjoy this role. We have so many motivated ambassadors who love sharing their stories about Indeed. Our mission as brand ambassadors is to cultivate a fun work environment, build community partnerships and share the stories about life #insideindeed. Our team always comes up with trendy new challenges for our ambassadors to compete in and the winners are awarded with Indeed swag and Indeed store points.

Moving to London

In May 2021, an opportunity arose for me to join our CS Enterprise team as a Senior Client Success Specialist based in the London office. Again, from the beginning, everyone from the Managers to the Team Leads and all my other colleagues have been nothing but welcoming, patient and very helpful. This is Indeeds culture. All the tools and training were provided to me virtually onboard and allow me to settle into a new country gradually.

Don’t get me wrong I was really enjoying working in the Dublin office. I loved the team I was on and I was enjoying working from home and being around my family. The reason I had no hesitations about relocating was I spoke to the recruiters and HR staff in London. A colleague in the Austin office also rang me and spoke about the relocation. Indeed put me in a hotel for 30 days. They booked my flights over and sorted out anything I needed and have been very flexible. The relocation package as a whole was fantastic to help to get me started here in England.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to an Indeed office but I’m not nervous at all. I’ve started my previous two roles working from home, so I’m very excited to go back to meet my new colleagues and see my new office here in London. I miss the office buzz, the office vibes and I can’t wait to be back. It will be interesting to see how the “new normal” is back in the office.

I think it’s fair to say —  especially over the last 16 months —  the trust Indeed has given its employees allowing them to work at their own pace, giving them all the tools they need to be successful, and even in a global pandemic, allowing them to get promoted and take advantage of our open paid time off policy. Indeed also gives us one Friday off every month – a ”YOU Day,”so we avoid burnout, shows how much this company values its employees. I have a lot of people who reach out to me on different networking sites and social media asking if there are any roles open at Indeed. I’m happy to guide them in the right direction.
